Our Office
The London office operates as McGuireWoods London LLP (formerly Grundberg Mocatta Rakison LLP, established in 1978). It is a City-based office that distinguishes itself from its London competitors by offering an international focus.
The London office deals with large and complex transactions, with a strong emphasis on in-depth quality; and in particular, a dedication to devising solutions to meet clients’ business objectives.
Our London lawyers have substantial international and domestic experience including:
- Corporate and Commercial, Securities and Financial Services, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity, equity and debt securities offerings and listings, AIM and Plus, corporate finance, bank financing, agency, distribution, licence, franchise and consultancy agreements, intellectual property, information technology and e-commerce, corporate recovery and insolvency issues.
- Dispute Resolution including ADR, commercial contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, cross-border disputes, asset tracing and recovery disputes, civil fraud, as well as domestic and/worldwide freezing injunctions.
- Employment law including employment contracts, directors’ service agreements, consultancy agreements, confidentiality agreements, redundancy, pensions, unfair and wrongful dismissal claims, discrimination, restrictive covenants and directors’ duties.
- Property including purchase of residential, commercial and industrial freeholds, commercially and institutionally acceptable residential leases, redevelopment, mortgages and lending secured on property, property finance and planning.
- Private Clients, Tax and Family including for private clients: personal tax planning, non-domiciliaries, international tax issues, trusts, inheritance tax, capital gains tax and property taxation. For corporate clients, personal tax planning, cross-border corporate structures, employer and employee taxation, international tax issues, share option schemes and property taxation. Family includes, pre-nuptial agreements, co-habitation agreements, divorce, ancillary relief i.e. capital settlements and periodical payments (maintenance), division of pensions and off shore trusts and choice of jurisdiction.
- Restructuring and Insolvency including re-financing, administration, insolvency litigation, insolvent and solvent litigations, individual and company voluntary arrangements.
- Competition, including merger control, licensing and distribution agreements and supply arrangements, intellectual property, restrictive practices, abuse of dominance, cartels and compliance procedures.
