At the beginning of 2020, it seemed the slow but steady drumbeat of provider consolidation would continue on its natural course. Then COVID-19 struck, forcing the delay or cancellation of acquisitions as provider-based businesses dealt with furloughs, credit facility defaults and endless stresses.
