Charlotte partners Jill Griset and Jason Evans gave a presentation on “Reducing Litigation Budgets through Effective Document Management and Intelligent Ediscovery Practices” to the Association of Corporate Counsel, Research Triangle Area Chapter in Raleigh on May 18. They discussed the design and implementation of document management policies and e-discovery practices to reduce litigation costs. Discussion topics included the factors that typically lead to ballooning e-discovery costs and how to manage and control them, the current state of the art in e-discovery technology tools that can be leveraged to reduce costs, defensible practices to use to avoid e-discovery sanctions while still keeping within reasonable cost parameters, and designing a document retention plan to organize data and documents and limit the documents subject to discovery while complying with applicable laws and regulations.
