Richmond’s Style Weekly newspaper gave Gateway Plaza favorable notices in an architectural review published Aug. 25. It praises the design of McGuireWoods’ new Richmond home as “an elegant, 19-story symphony in glass and aluminum.” It calls Gateway Plaza an “instant landmark,” the long-awaited finishing touch for Richmond’s Cary-Canal business district, filling a conspicuous gap that once existed exactly at the entry point across the James River from the south across the Manchester Bridge. The review also provides historical context for the site of the building and commends planners for the natural feel, the artwork and the design of the Gateway Plaza lobby.
The firm’s new location is also featured in a recent Richmond Times-Dispatch story.
