Food Safety magazine featured an article co-authored by McGuireWoods lawyers Christopher Ripple, J. Brian Jackson and Jim Neale as the cover story for its October/November issue focusing on food safety regulation. The article, titled “A New Era of Food Safety Regulations Begins,” details seven new rules under the Food Safety Modernization Act that collectively create the most sweeping reform of U.S. food safety laws in over 70 years.
The article discussed the Food and Drug Administration’s shift from responding to food safety crises to preventing risks, practical challenges of each rule, and areas where enforcement may provide clarity to aspects of the final rules, such as supply chain regulation.
