In an article published Dec. 22 in Becker’s Hospital Review, Chicago partners Scott Downing and Amber McGraw Walsh and associate John Harig outlined key considerations for anesthesia and pain management practices that are contemplating transactions such as selling to a hospital, affiliating with a physician practice management company or consolidating with another pain management group.
They discuss statistics illustrating the recent trends toward acquisitions of practices by hospitals, address issues for groups to consider before embarking on a deal, and offer tips for successfully completing a transaction.
The authors are members of the firm’s healthcare practice, with Walsh serving as the Healthcare Department chair.
