McGuireWoods lawyers and McGuireWoods Consulting advisors penned a two-article series published in Law360 discussing regulatory and legislative changes, as well as litigation and deal trends facing the food and beverage industry for 2017.
In “2017 Food and Beverage Industry Outlook: Part 1,” published Jan. 18, the authors discussed President Trump’s potential impact on food safety regulation, trade and manufacturing; steps food and beverage companies should take to prepare for the seven new Food Safety Modernization Act rules with looming enforcement dates; and upcoming negotiations by the U.S. Congress on the Farm Bill.
In Part 2 of the article, published Jan. 19, the authors addressed food labeling issues on the horizon, the expected rise in food and beverage mergers, and antitrust/competition and regulatory issues facing the industry in the EU.
The two-article series — co-authored by partners Jim Neale, Matthew Hall and Trent Taylor; associates J.D. Costa, John Hoke and Chris Ripple; and senior vice presidents Chris Lloyd and Lee Lilley — is available online to subscribers. Part 1 of the series is also available in a firm legal alert.
The series was also published as firm legal alerts: part 1 and part 2.
