In a Feb. 13 CTFN story, Matthew Hall commented on the surprisingly lengthy clearance process for the merger control filing with the European Commission regarding Qualcomm’s acquisition of NXP Semiconductors.
“This is a long period for what they say is a complementary deal not raising concerns,” Hall said. “It suggests that the commission is asking a lot of questions and requiring the parties to explain various issues, which could become substantive concerns potentially leading to remedy requirements.”
A frequent writer and speaker on antitrust law topics, Hall served as vice chair of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law’s Economics Committee in 2015-16, and for 2016-17, he is vice chair of the section’s International Committee. He also is a member of the steering group of the ABA Section of International Law’s International Antitrust Law Committee.
