Houston partner Durham McCormick is featured in a January 2017 Q&A in Metropolitan Corporate Counsel titled “Without Tax Credits, Whither Renewables?”
The interview explores how federal and state tax incentives have helped stimulate growth for renewable energy projects — and how the elimination of these incentives, coupled with a reduction in corporate tax rates, might affect investments in the sector.
If the investment tax credit and the production tax credit are terminated, McCormick said, the renewable energy market will still see development of renewables. However, he added, “the increased cost would most likely be reflected in the cost of power, which would ultimately be passed along to utility customers.”
