Charlotte partner James H. Jeffries IV and counsel Melinda L. “Mindy” McGrath were profiled in a May 2 Law360 story highlighting the growth of McGuireWoods’ energy industry team and Regulatory & Compliance Department. The addition of Jeffries and McGrath follows the arrival of senior counsel John P. Perkins III, a former top FERC litigator who joined the firm’s Washington, D.C., office last month.
Jeffries and McGrath represent natural gas distribution companies and other public and private companies before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state regulators.
In the interview with Law360, McGrath said, “We’re both excited to be at a firm that gives us an ability to expand on a practice that’s largely focused on natural gas issues to one where we can dive into electricity distribution and transmission issues.”
Commenting on important changes in the energy industry, Jeffries noted, “A lot of the big issues have been resolved by FERC, but the biggest issues I’m seeing right now are around the impacts of burgeoning shale production in the eastern U.S. and all the impacts it’s having on the services, facilities and markets on the interstate pipelines.”
