Law360 covered the promotion of McGuireWoods Charlotte-based senior counsel Angela Zimmern to the new position of pro bono director for the firm, an appointment that pairs her passion and the firm’s pro bono initiatives.
According to the April 21 story, Zimmern will help lawyers identify pro bono opportunities and coordinate with corporate law departments to help legal services organizations represent people who can’t afford lawyers.
“I’m excited to be able to focus full time on being able to help pro bono attorneys and the clients they serve,” she said. “We’re really interested in making a meaningful impact on the communities that we serve.”
The story noted Zimmern’s central role in Charlotte Triage, which aids Charlotte-area low-income residents with legal problems such as evictions, access to healthcare and expungement of criminal records for job seekers.
Managing partner J. Tracy Walker IV said, “Angie has impressed us with her pro bono leadership in Charlotte, particularly her efforts to strengthen pro bono partnerships with nonprofit organizations and clients.”
