Law360 profiled New York partner Deepak Reddy and Chicago partner Thomas DeSplinter in an April 5 story about the their arrival at McGuireWoods, which also drew coverage from several other legal and business media outlets.
Reddy, a top aviation finance lawyer, and DeSplinter, an energy M&A and private equity standout, joined McGuireWoods on April 1, coming from Winston & Strawn. In the Law360 story, Reddy explained how he found his way to aviation finance and why he moved to McGuireWoods. “When you scratch the surface, you realize there’s a pretty substantial practice in place already here,” Reddy said. “And the opportunity here is to take it to the next level and make it a market leader in the space, with a very long-term view.”
The story noted DeSplinter’s experience as an attorney, as vice president of corporate development at Blackstone portfolio company GridLiance Partners, and in commodity sales and trading at Goldman Sachs and in oil and gas supply and trading at BP North America. “I tended to like the private equity world a little bit better than the larger deals. Particularly as a younger associate, you get a lot of really good experience,” DeSplinter said. “You really get to see a lot of different types of deals in a lot of different sectors that you might not see if you were working on a large, multibillion-dollar company.”
Reddy’s arrival was covered by numerous outlets including The Deal, The Secured Lender, Bloomberg Law, Airline Economics, Aviation Pros, Private Equity Wire, Airfinance Journal and Aviator.
Mergers & Acquisitions and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin noted DeSplinter’s arrival in their coverage of significant industry moves.
