McGuireWoods London associate Adam Penman wrote an article for the 2020 issue of HR Director magazine titled “Piercing the Corporate Veil,” discussing issues that companies and their human resources departments face this year.
Penman, a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment Department, touched upon gender pay reporting requirements in the United Kingdom, proposals for similar reporting based on ethnicity and disability, transparency in executive remuneration, and the risks that social media may pose to businesses’ reputations.
He also addressed globalization, the importance of environmentalism and social justice, workplace flexibility, data privacy rights, employee recruitment amid tightening immigration rules, using technology to track employees’ health and movement, and the need to embrace 5G and cloud computing.
“As ever, companies and their HR teams should try to be one step ahead of those changes and prepare well for what will inevitably be a very busy year keeping plates spinning,” wrote Penman.
