Axios quoted McGuireWoods partner Amber McGraw Walsh, chair of the firm’s Healthcare Department, in an April 20 story that explores how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting small and independent physician practices.
The story noted that those groups face severe revenue shortages that could force them to sell their practices or close altogether. Walsh addressed concerns that a further consolidation of the industry could drive up costs for patients.
“That’s always the fear: The fewer players that you have, the more costs go up because now you’re making choices that are void of concerns for competition,” said Walsh, a member of the firm’s COVID-19 Response Team.
Walsh and McGuireWoods’ healthcare lawyers have created video alerts addressing how providers can overcome COVID-19 challenges.
