McGuireWoods London partner Simon Hems and associate Chloe Steele wrote an article in the Oct.-Dec. 2021 issue of Corporate Disputes magazine discussing how best to avoid shareholder disputes about business performance in a post-pandemic world.
In the article — titled “An Epidemic of Dissatisfaction” — Hems and Steele noted that there has been considerable frustration in the business world during the pandemic, causing people to look at their businesses and investments differently and often leading to disputes between shareholders and directors. They advised practicing good internal communications and soliciting the help of independent third parties to talk through issues so that shareholder disputes can be avoided.
In these unique times, they remarked, “[a] clear understanding of why things are happening and decisions being taken, goes a long way to avoid disgruntlement turning into litigation.”
