Law360, Bloomberg Law and Reuters published stories covering the recent arrival of partner John Ayanian, who joined McGuireWoods’ securities enforcement and litigation team in Washington, D.C. He anchors the firm’s broker-dealer regulatory counseling practice.
Ayanian came to McGuireWoods with more than two decades of experience in private practice and previous roles serving as a staff attorney and special counsel in the SEC’s Division of Market Regulation, Office of Market Supervision, where he was responsible for the regulation of trading and markets. Reuters and Bloomberg Law noted that attorneys with SEC experience have been in high demand since President Biden took office in January 2021 and installed new leaders at the agency.
The Oct. 25, 2021, stories included comments from Ayanian; Dion Hayes, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation; E. Andrew Southerling, co-chair of the firm’s securities enforcement and litigation group; and William E. Goydan, head of the firm’s broker-dealer and investment adviser group.
