Law360and Texas Lawyer were among numerous media outlets covering the July 1, 2021, arrival of restructuring partner Demetra Liggins in the firm’s Houston office.
Liggins has more than two decades of experience in business finance and restructuring for public and private companies. She is the sixth partner to join the firm’s Houston office in 2021.
“It felt like they had a new fresh commitment to bankruptcy and restructuring,” Liggins told Law360. “All of their recent growth in Texas and especially the Houston office was very attractive to me.”
Liggins added that increasing diversity and inclusion in the legal industry is a longtime passion that she looks forward to pursuing at the firm.
“McGuireWoods’ commitment to diversity and inclusion and belonging was a big draw for me,” she told Law360.
In an interview with Texas Lawyer, Liggins said she looks forward to building a team in Houston to enhance the firm’s national restructuring and insolvency capabilities.
