Law360 covered the recent arrival of McGuireWoods partner Andrew Russell to the firm’s Labor & Employment Department in Century City, California.
Russell handles wage and hour cases and discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, as well as matters related to trade secrets misappropriation, Americans With Disabilities Act compliance, and alleged violations of state and federal background check laws. He also counsels clients on compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
Russell told Law360 that he joined McGuireWoods in part because the firm prioritizes labor and employment and “does not treat it as a side practice, as a complement to other areas of law. It really appreciates the importance of labor and employment. It is one of the departments that is a focus for the firm.”
He added that McGuireWoods is “committed to growing its presence in California” and that he is excited about “the opportunity to lead in California and be part of a growing team.”
Law360’s story included a statement from Sabrina Beldner, chair of McGuireWoods’ Labor & Employment Department, who said: “Andrew’s track record defending employers in class action and single-plaintiff litigation and his insight on compliance issues are outstanding, and I could not be happier to have him join us to help lead our California practice.”
Russell’s move to McGuireWoods also was noted by The Recorder, an American Lawyer Media publication.
