Law360, the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, ABL Advisor, The Daily Docket, Bloomberg Law and Private Equity Wire are among the media outlets that covered the arrival of McGuireWoods Chicago partner Jason Griffith.
Griffith — an accomplished deal lawyer who advises private equity firms, companies and family offices in corporate transactions of all sizes — joined McGuireWoods’ global private equity team.
“I thought how McGuireWoods thinks about our future and where the firm is going was really unique. It was really highly committed,” Griffith told Law360. “There’s a lot of energy around it, a lot of different initiatives and, for somebody like me, a lot of coaching and mentoring and planning.”
Griffith counsels clients in mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, minority investments and restructurings, as well as general corporate matters. His experience includes middle-market transactions and deals exceeding $1 billion in value. He represents buyers, sellers and lenders in deals across industries, including a transaction recognized as the Turnaround Deal of the Year by M&A Advisor.
“The value proposition for me, I think, is I’ve had the chance to practice in a pretty diverse group of industries, deals and targets,” Griffith told Law360, adding that transactional lawyers not only must possess certain legal skills but also have real-world experience.
“The ability to bring that to the table helps me — and therefore helps the firm — offer good practical advice. We want to give top-shelf legal counsel, but we also want to be good deal partners for our clients,” Griffith said to Law360. “We want to be able to be practical and thoughtful and help be part of their team, not just process the documents for the transaction.”
