Law 360, Texas Lawyer, Bloomberg Law, Reuters’ “ Daily Docket” newsletter and the Southeast Texas Record were among the national and local media outlets that covered the recent arrival of McGuireWoods partner Chelsea Hilliard, who joined the firm’s commercial litigation practice in Dallas.
Hilliard counsels companies in litigation arising out of mergers and acquisitions, particularly venture capital or private equity-financed investments. She comes to McGuireWoods from Foley & Lardner and brings more than a decade of experience representing clients in high-stakes litigation and corporate governance matters.
Hilliard told Law360 that her litigation experience complements the strong corporate practice in McGuireWoods’ Dallas office. She said she was familiar with the firm and it “turns out they were looking for someone with my background in trial experience [and] commercial litigation and deal litigation work.”
“I feel like the stars kind of aligned in terms of an opportunity,” she said.
Hilliard also spoke to Law360 about her work as director and vice president of mentoring for the Dallas Women Lawyers Association (DWLA) and co-chair of the Women’s Mentoring Circles Program, a joint initiative of DWLA and the Dallas Young Lawyers Association.
“Something that is really important to me is the advancement and retention of women in the profession,” Hilliard said. “One of my favorite aspects of my job is being able to support other women and empower other women.”
