Law360 is among the national legal publications that reported on McGuireWoods partner Benjamin L. Hatch’s new role as chair of the firm’s Environmental & Mass Tort Department.
Hatch, a former federal prosecutor who represents clients in high-stakes civil litigation, criminal investigations and appeals, became chair of the department effective Sept. 1, 2023. He leads a litigation and investigations team with deep experience in high-stakes mass tort, environmental and product liability matters; federal and state attorney general-led investigations and enforcement actions; and regulatory proceedings.
McGuireWoods’ Environmental & Mass Tort Department is structured into four practice groups: environmental litigation, product liability and mass torts, environmental enforcement and regulatory counseling, and crisis management and incident response.
“Think of any major event that’s happened, train derailment, that sort of thing, you’re going to have government investigations, you’re going to have regulatory compliance and interaction you’re going to have civil, environmental litigation,” Hatch told Law360 in the Aug. 28, 2023, article. The vision behind the department was to bring together experienced lawyers who cover all aspects of a major event, he added.
Global Legal Chronicle also reported on Hatch’s appointment as department chair.
