David Martin Connelly Interviews FERC Chairman for Energy Bar Association

November 8, 2024

McGuireWoods Washington, D.C., partner David Martin Connelly recently co-authored an article about Federal Energy Regulatory Commission chairman Willie L. Phillips.

Connelly is the immediate past president of the Energy Bar Association, which published the Oct. 28, 2024, article.

In the story, Phillips — who became FERC chairman in January 2023 — said he believes it “is critically important” to visit stakeholders across the country to get their firsthand perspectives on energy regulation issues.

“It has been a benefit to me to get out to learn what is important to people because you can’t always get that here in D.C.,” Phillips said.

Connelly, a nationally recognized energy regulatory lawyer with more than 25 years of experience representing electric utilities and other industry clients before FERC and U.S. Courts of Appeals, returned to McGuireWoods in October 2024. He was a partner at the firm from 2012 to 2017.
