Law360, Politico’s E&E News, The National Law Journal, Bloomberg Law and Global Legal Chronicle were among the media outlets covering the arrival of McGuireWoods partner Jeremy Medovoy, who joined the firm in Washington, D.C., after serving as the top-ranking enforcement lawyer at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
As deputy director of FERC’s Office of Enforcement, Medovoy led all aspects of the agency’s enforcement program, including investigations, litigation, audits and market surveillance, working closely with other federal agencies and industry stakeholders. His significant achievements at FERC include streamlining the agency’s settlement authority process, he told Law360 in a Feb. 18, 2025, story.
“Whereas it used to be the commission that approved or gave authority to enforcement staff to negotiate settlements, I led a change in the process whereby now, the director of the Office of Enforcement has the discretion to give staff the authority to negotiate settlements,” Medovoy said.
At McGuireWoods, Medovoy advises clients on matters before FERC, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation. He told E&E News he was excited to put his experience to work with McGuireWoods’ “top tier” energy practice.
“I feel like I found a really perfect fit here at McGuireWoods,” he said.
Politico also noted Medovoy’s arrival in the Feb. 18, 2025, edition of its “Playbook PM” newsletter. Reuters covered the news in the Feb. 19, 2025, edition of its “Afternoon Docket” newsletter.
