McGuireWoods LLP said today it has added four lawyers to its Charlotte office, significantly augmenting the firm’s mergers and acquisitions and securities practices.
Joining the firm as partners are E. Lynwood Mallard, Mark C. Prybylski, David B. Whelpley Jr., and Elizabeth G. Wren. All four previously served as partners in the Charlotte office of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP.
The staff additions bring to nearly 170 the number of lawyers in the Charlotte office of McGuireWoods, which recently expanded its presence in the North Carolina market through its merger with Helms Mulliss & Wicker PLLC. The merger became effective April 1.
“McGuireWoods is honored to welcome these new colleagues, who have distinguished themselves not only individually but as a group working together for well over a decade,” said Peter Covington, vice chairman of McGuireWoods LLP. “Their combined expertise and collective insight will greatly enhance our ability to represent clients on mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance issues.”
“We’re excited by the opportunity to join a firm that has the national reach and reputation of McGuireWoods as well as the scale and stature in the Charlotte market that it has gained by joining forces with Helms Mulliss,” said Mallard. “We look forward to combining our resources with McGuireWoods’ very talented team to serve this dynamic and growing market.”
Mallard, Whelpley and Wren are listed in the 2007 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers for Corporate/M&A Law. Mallard is also listed in the North Carolina Super Lawyers for M&A work for 2006 and 2007, and Wren has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for her expertise in the area of securities law. Prybylski’s practice has focused on international M&A work, including foreign investments into the U.S. market and acquisitions abroad.
