McGuireWoods ranked among the top 12 law firms nationwide representing Fortune 500 companies in Corporate Counsel magazine’s annual survey of “Who Represents America’s Biggest Companies.”
In the just released edition, the firm was recognized as a leader in four of the six practice areas covered by the survey. Notably, McGuireWoods ranked seventh overall in labor and employment and in the Top 20 in Securities, Torts and Labor Litigation. Those rankings propelled the firm to the 12th position on the cumulative chart and 9th overall among full-service firms. (The top three positions on the list are held by so-called “super boutiques” focused primarily on labor and employment work.) The firm was also recognized in the Contracts category.
“McGuireWoods has become a go-to firm for many of the nation’s most important corporations in a wide range of areas important to major corporations. We are proud that they’re our clients and we are proud of the great work that we do for them,” said Joel Spitz, chairman of the firm’s Labor and Employment practice.
The survey data was compiled by ALM Legal Intelligence, which reviewed court documents and filings obtained from multiple sources to determine which firms represented which companies in matters during the last calendar year. The results, which were featured in ALM’s Corporate Counsel magazine and its flagship publication, The American Lawyer, reflect the 20 firms most mentioned in each category.
In addition to its No. 7 employment slot, McGuireWoods ranked 10th in securities, 13th in torts and 15th in labor litigation.
