Nine McGuireWoods lawyers from the firm’s Los Angeles office have been named Southern California “Super Lawyers” for 2015. Lawyer rating service Super Lawyers will publish this year’s survey findings in its Southern California Super Lawyers magazine and Los Angeles magazine.

- Thomas L. Becket, Real Estate. Becket’s practice is concentrated in national real property law with an emphasis on the representation of real estate investors and developers, real estate portfolio owners and managers, retail mall owners and operators, telecommunications companies, oil and gas producers and distributors, high tech enterprises and automotive manufacturers. He represents developers, buyers, sellers, landlords and tenants in various leases, acquisitions, dispositions and exchanges.
- Susan L. Germaise, Business Litigation. Germaise represents clients in a broad range of commercial litigation matters including business disputes, products liability cases and employment claims, as well as consumer-related litigation. She also has extensive experience in real estate and construction litigation.
- Richard S. Grant, Mergers and Acquisitions. The managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Los Angeles office, Grant represents a diverse array of companies in public and private mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, venture capital financings and structuring of venture backed companies. He also handles sponsorships of professional sports teams, leagues and organizations and sports endorsement transactions.
- Sidney K. Kanazawa, Class Action. Kanazawa represents clients in high-stakes matters in the areas of product liability and mass torts, class action litigation, environmental litigation, financial services litigation, food safety law, and healthcare litigation. He serves as General Counsel of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and received the organization’s 2014 President’s Award
- Franklin D. Kang, IP Litigation. Kang’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and counseling for Korea-based and other Asia-based clients, including electronics and life science companies. He heads McGuireWoods’ Korea practice and serves as a relationship partner and counsel to various Korea-based clients in vital cross-border litigation and transactional matters.
- Michael Mandel, Employment and Labor. Mandel represents management in all aspects of labor and employment litigation in federal and state trial and appellate courts. His practice includes representation of a broad array of employers in single and multiplaintiff wrongful termination, employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, and wage/hour cases.
- Neil W. Rust, Banking. Rust’s practice focuses on debt finance, mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. He has substantial experience representing agents, lenders and borrowers with syndicated and non-syndicated cash flow revolving and term credit facilities, asset backed revolving credit facilities, letters of credit and standby and direct purchase agreements.
- Gary Samson, Banking. Samson represents major national and select regional banks and national commercial lenders on sophisticated syndicated and non-syndicated asset-based, cash flow, investment-grade, second-lien and other commercial loans made to businesses across a broad spectrum of industries. He also has extensive experience handling related workouts and bankruptcy matters. He has developed particular depth in loans to healthcare providers, oil and gas producers and refiners, and agriculture-related businesses, including farming, wineries and canning facilities.
- Leslie M. Werlin, Business Litigation.
