McGuireWoods partners Joanne Katsantonis and Amy Manning are among the distinguished practitioners featured on The National Law Journal’s 2016 Mergers & Acquisitions and Antitrust Trailblazers list.
Katsantonis leads McGuireWoods’ 100-lawyer cross-practice energy industry team and is a member of the firm’s executive committee. Based in Richmond, Virginia, she serves as lead counsel to prominent energy companies in multibillion-dollar mergers and acquisitions and her work has established the firm as a leader in utility-scale solar transactions.
This year Katsantonis led a McGuireWoods team that served as outside legal advisor to Dominion Resources in its $4.4 billion acquisition of Questar Corp. The acquisition expanded Dominion’s natural gas assets into the western United States and created a combined company that serves 4.8 million electric utility and natural gas customers in seven states.
Manning, chair of McGuireWoods’ Antitrust and Trade Regulation Department and based in Chicago, has handled criminal and civil antitrust matters for international and U.S. companies and individuals for more than 20 years. She defends companies and high-level executives in Justice Department Antitrust Division investigations, has litigated major civil matters, and helps global companies design and implement innovative compliance programs at a time of heightened antitrust enforcement worldwide. Manning is co-founder of the Chicago Women Antitrust Lawyers Network, co-chair of the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law’s Committee Operations, and past chair of the Civil Practice and Procedure Committee.
