Corporate counsel recognized McGuireWoods among a select group of law firms with standout associates, according to a new report from BTI Consulting Group. The survey identifies firms known for giving associates visible roles working with corporate clients.
“Clients make a mental note of the firms who will put their associates on the front lines and make them visible,” the report states. “They believe client-facing experiences, however limited, are good for these young attorneys and will help their careers.” The findings are based on interviews with 324 top legal decision makers at large companies across a range of industries.
McGuireWoods has created innovative professional development, training and mentoring programs to help advance lawyers’ careers. These include specially designed programs to assist junior and midlevel associates with the transition to more senior roles. The firm also launched an associate professional development planning process in 2016 to ensure that associates have the guidance, support and resources needed to reach their goals.
“We’re grateful that clients appreciate McGuireWoods for the excellent service that we provide. Our dedicated associates are essential to ensuring this superior level of service, and we are pleased to see them recognized for their second-to-none talent. The professional development of our associates remains one of our most critical goals and responsibilities as a law firm, and we are committed to their continued growth,” said partner David Finkelson, chair of the firm’s associates committee.
McGuireWoods consistently ranks among the top law firms for client service excellence in BTI surveys of corporate counsel. BTI identified McGuireWoods as one of just five law firms with the strongest client relationships in its recently published Industry Power Rankings. The firm also was ranked among the “best of the best” for delivering value to clients in BTI’s Brand Elite survey.
