McGuireWoods is among an elite group of law firms named to BTI Consulting Group’s Most Recommended Law Firms list for more than 15 consecutive years, a distinction based on unprompted responses from corporate counsel willing to bet their reputations when recommending specific firms to their peers.
Only 10 firms have made the prestigious list for more than 15 years in a row, according to BTI’s newly published report. This year’s list is based on information provided by 324 senior legal decision makers at large companies with more than $1 billion in annual revenue.
“These firms have been able to work through the changes in client needs and expectations on a continuous basis to deliver superior client service, showing a cultural advantage in understanding clients over the long term,” the report states.
Of the 10 firms that made the list more than 15 straight years, McGuireWoods is among only five that also earned a place on BTI’s 2017 Client Service A-Team, an annual ranking of 30 firms that corporate counsel identify as delivering the best client service.
“There’s no greater tribute to our lawyers and their dedicated industry-focused approach to client service than being recognized for over 15 consecutive years as one of just 10 firms that corporate legal decision makers will stake their reputations on and recommend to their peers,” said Tom Cabaniss, McGuireWoods’ managing partner. “We make it our business to understand our clients’ businesses, challenges and goals and do all we can to help them succeed.”
Most corporate legal decision makers will hire a law firm based on a single recommendation from a peer, and superior client service is the leading driver of those recommendations, the new BTI report says. Key components of superior service include putting client needs first, understanding their businesses, providing key information and insights before clients ask, delivering higher-than-expected value, and meeting clients’ targeted objectives, the report concludes.
