McGuireWoods earned recognition as a leading law firm in all eight litigation categories in the 2019 edition of BTI Litigation Outlook: Changes, Trends and Opportunities for Law Firms, based on unprompted feedback from corporate counsel.
The firm was among an elite group ranked as “standouts” in intellectual property litigation, class actions, complex and routine employment litigation, product liability matters and complex commercial litigation. McGuireWoods also was recognized for securities and finance litigation and routine commercial litigation.
The annual report by BTI Consulting Group is compiled from more than 350 interviews with top legal decision makers at companies with revenue of $1 billion or more. The report found that companies are managing more matters than a year ago and expect litigation spending to hit a record high next year.
“While virtually every segment of litigation is expected to grow in 2019, the largest upticks are expected in areas where business risk and potential exposure are inherently higher,” BTI wrote. “This type of environment poses premium opportunities for law firms with a strategic and proactive approach.”
BTI’s surveys of corporate counsel consistently rate McGuireWoods as a leading law firm for innovation and client service excellence. The firm is among only 11 to make BTI’s coveted “Client Service 30” list at least 10 times. McGuireWoods also was rated among the top five firms with the strongest client relationships in BTI’s Industry Power Rankings for each of the past two years.
“Our litigation team excels by working closely with clients to understand their businesses and priorities, minimize their litigation risk, and provide innovative solutions that advance their goals,” said Dion Hayes, the firm’s deputy managing partner for litigation. “It is always gratifying when clients recognize our lawyers’ outstanding performance.”
