McGuireWoods has been selected as a finalist for The American Lawyer’s inaugural Industry Awards in the Best Use of Technology category, adding to the prestigious honors the firm has earned for innovations that add value for clients and advance high-priority firm initiatives.
McGuireWoods is one of only seven firms recognized for innovations in technology. The American Lawyer reviewed hundreds of nominations to select the finalists for the Industry Awards, which honor exceptional work across the legal services spectrum. Winners will be announced Dec. 5 at an awards gala in New York City.
The firm’s innovations include case management applications to support lawyers serving as national counsel to Fortune 500 companies and leading technology-based businesses. These tools allow clients to easily track hundreds of cases, identify trends and forecast costs, creating significant advantages in litigation strategy.
McGuireWoods’ technology team also developed an application that identifies inconsistencies in Equal Employment Opportunity data so that lawyers and clients can produce accurate statistical analyses to meet reporting requirements and spot employment trends that can lead to litigation.
In addition, the data analytics team collaborated with the firm’s Diversity Action Council to develop a custom dashboard to help identify opportunities for recruiting, developing, promoting and retaining women and diverse lawyers and track the firm’s long-term progress.
“Our lawyers and staff are always creating innovative solutions to help our clients achieve their business goals,” said Jonathan Harmon, the firm’s chairman. “That work is affirmed when pre-eminent publications such as The American Lawyer recognize technology initiatives that distinguish McGuireWoods as a leader.”
McGuireWoods has earned widespread recognition for client-focused innovations, ranking among the top three firms in Financial Times’ prestigious North America Innovative Lawyers report. In addition, Mergers & Acquisitions magazine named McGuireWoods “Law Firm of the Year” in its Mid-Market M&A Awards for deal work and innovations that set the firm apart as an industry leader.
