McGuireWoods solidified its strong position as a leading law firm for global and U.S. M&A transactions through the first nine months of 2018, earning top-five rankings for deal activity in league tables published by Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters.
Through the third quarter, McGuireWoods was No. 4 in announced U.S. M&A transactions in both publications, and No. 5 and No. 8 for worldwide deals in Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters, respectively.
McGuireWoods also continued its stellar performance in mid-market M&A activity with top deal count rankings in multiple categories. Notably, the firm ranked No. 3 for U.S. deals up to $500 million in both reports, and No. 4 in Bloomberg and No.7 in Thomson Reuters for worldwide deals up to $500 million.
The firm placed No. 8 for global private equity deals up to $500 million in Bloomberg’s tables and No. 7 for transactions up to $250 million, reflecting McGuireWoods’ leadership connecting investors with companies and independent sponsors seeking financing.
Significant third-quarter deals include representing Scottish private equity firm Clyde Blowers Capital in its sale of industrial gearing manufacturer Cone Drive; Revelstoke Capital Partners on its investment in DataLink Fund Solutions; and Tiger Peak Capital in acquiring a majority stake in Voice Comm.

“McGuireWoods is a leader in these definitive league tables because our lawyers are dedicated to delivering innovative, business-minded solutions to our clients,” said Michael Woodard, chair of the firm’s M&A & Corporate Transactions Department. “We look forward to continuing this powerful momentum through the end of this year and into 2019.”
