Noreen Kelly, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ New York office, has been honored by Crain’s New York Business in the publication’s 2020 Notable Women in Law report. The annual feature recognizes top female lawyers in the New York metropolitan area.
Kelly represents financial institutions, broker dealers, investment advisers and other businesses facing regulatory and criminal investigations and significant litigation risk. She became managing partner of the New York office in 2015 and has played a key role in the strategic expansion of the firm’s broker-dealer, restructuring, finance and white-collar practices in New York to better serve the firm’s financial institution clients. Kelly helped establish the firm’s cross-practice Financial Institutions Industry Team, which she led for three years. In addition to her role as managing partner of the New York office, Kelly currently serves on McGuireWoods’ Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
Kelly is active in pro bono and community charitable work. Earlier this year, she organized a team of McGuireWoods lawyers and in-house counsel to join her for a week of service in the migrant detention center in Dilley, Texas, to represent women and children fleeing violence and persecution in their homelands. In New York, she has been instrumental in organizing partnerships with several clients to staff multiple legal clinics for veterans and LGBTQ immigrants seeking asylum.
Among her many accolades, the New York Law Journal recognized Kelly with a 2018 Distinguished Leader Award.
“I am honored to be included in this group of accomplished women lawyers and grateful to my McGuireWoods colleagues for setting the standard for client service excellence,” Kelly said.
