McGuireWoods advised CEI Vision Partners (CVP), a portfolio company of Revelstoke Capital Partners, in forming a partnership with Virginia Eye Consultants, creating one of the nation’s largest ophthalmology management services organizations. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Virginia Eye Consultants is the fifth partner practice added by CVP since its formation in 2018 by Revelstoke and the Cincinnati Eye Institute. Lawyers from McGuireWoods’ M&A, private equity, healthcare, debt finance, labor and employment, and tax practices advised CVP. The firm represented Revelstoke in the creation of CVP and advised the company in each of its partnership transactions.
CVP’s partner practices have more than 100 industry-leading providers in all major sub-specialties of ophthalmology in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. Virginia Eye Consultants has 17 providers serving Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.
“We are proud to work with CEI Vision Partners to advance its goal of becoming the country’s premier ophthalmology management services organization,” said McGuireWoods partner Thomas Zahn, who led the firm’s deal team. “Our representation of CEI Vision Partners and Revelstoke demonstrates the firm’s strong capabilities in healthcare private equity transactions.”
In addition to Zahn, the McGuireWoods team included Benjamin Hantz, Cindy Lu, Timothy Fry, Amanda Roenius, Helen Suh, James Schanaberger, Clayton Stallbaumer, Dawn Cutlan Stetter, Robert Cipolla and Holly Forsberg.
McGuireWoods ranked among the top five law firms for U.S. M&A deals and among the top 10 for global mid-market private equity transactions in 2018 league tables published by Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters. The firm also was honored as “Law Firm of the Year” in Mergers & Acquisitions magazine’s Mid-Market M&A Awards.
McGuireWoods has developed nationwide programs to bring together investors and companies seeking financing, including its annual healthcare-focused private equity, lending and finance conference.
