McGuireWoods partner Gregg Rosen has been honored for lifetime achievement by The Legal Intelligencer in its 2019 Professional Excellence Awards recognizing Pennsylvania’s top lawyers and legal departments. Rosen is one of only six lifetime achievement honorees.
The award recipients will be honored at a June 27 reception in Philadelphia and in special sections of The Legal Intelligencer, an American Lawyer Media publication.
Based in McGuireWoods’ Pittsburgh office, Rosen is among the most influential lawyers in Pennsylvania mining, oil and gas and natural resources matters. In his four-decade career, he has handled transactional and regulatory matters for natural resources companies as well as technologies related to underground mine safety. Rosen was the lawyer of record in numerous landmark Pennsylvania natural resources cases, including decisions regarding mineral leases and clarifying officer, director and shareholder liability for corporate environmental violations.
Rosen served on key state advisory committees, including the Pennsylvania Ad Hoc Task Force on Mining Legislation, which updated the state’s surface coal mining laws; and the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board Rules Committee, which amended rules for administrative law proceedings before the state’s environmental administrative law tribunal.
“I am proud to receive this honor from The Legal Intelligencer and grateful to my clients and McGuireWoods for the opportunities to advise companies in an important sector of the state and national economies,” Rosen said.
Rosen is a partner in McGuireWoods’ M&A and Corporate Transactions Department and a member of the firm’s multidisciplinary energy team, which includes more than 200 lawyers who work across all sectors of the industry.
“Gregg’s accomplishments in mining, oil and gas, and natural resources law are matched only by his commitment to serving clients and mentoring the young lawyers who are following in his footsteps,” said McGuireWoods managing partner J. Tracy Walker IV. “Gregg is a terrific lawyer and a wonderful partner. It is gratifying to see him honored for the impact he has had throughout his career.”
“This recognition affirms what Gregg’s peers and clients have known for years — that he is a respected authority and trusted adviser on energy and natural resources matters,” added David Hornyak, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Pittsburgh office. “We congratulate Gregg on this well-deserved honor.”
