McGuireWoods ranked No. 2 in deal count and No. 4 in proceeds for advising lenders in global and U.S. syndicated loans in the first half of 2019, continuing its powerhouse performance in league tables published by Refinitiv. The firm also ranked No. 8 in deal count for representing borrowers in U.S. transactions.
McGuireWoods advised lenders on 96 global deals valued at $78.8 billion and 74 U.S. deals worth $62.2 billion. The firm represented borrowers in 12 syndicated loans valued at $5.3 billion.
In addition, the firm took the top spot for representing lead banks in U.S. middle-market loans and ranked second in proceeds for middle-market institutional and private equity-backed loans in league tables published by the market intelligence service Debtwire. McGuireWoods earned top five rankings from Debtwire for North America leveraged loans and M&A leveraged loans.
McGuireWoods’ recent notable transactions include representing Wells Fargo as administrative agent in connection with a $500 million secured revolving credit facility for Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., and advising Strata Worldwide as borrower in a refinancing of its current debt.
“We are proud of our record delivering results for lenders and borrowers in deals of all sizes and we look forward to working with our clients to build on that success,” said partner Raj Natarajan, chair of the firm’s debt finance practice.
For eight years, Refinitiv has ranked McGuireWoods among the top 10 U.S. law firms for deal count and dollar volume for representing lenders in syndicated debt financings. The firm’s finance practice — among the nation’s largest — represents each of the top 10 U.S. banks ranked by assets and has handled domestic and cross-border commitments exceeding $100 billion in each of the past eight years.
McGuireWoods was named 2019’s “Law Firm of the Year” for banking and finance law in U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.” In addition, Law360 named the firm a “Banking Practice Group of the Year” for advising national banks in multibillion-dollar financings and deals, winning high-stakes appeals and representing financial institutions in major matters.
