McGuireWoods Dallas partner David McLean has been named a 2020 Texas Trailblazer by Texas Lawyer, an American Lawyer Media publication. He is recognized in the publication’s October/November issue for his role creating McGuireWoods’ innovative deal sourcing infrastructure connecting companies and investors to new business opportunities.
McLean represents private equity firms, independent sponsors and junior capital providers in lower middle-market equity and debt investments. He co-founded McGuireWoods’ Independent Sponsors of Dallas, a regionally focused group of independent sponsors who meet to discuss deal opportunities, resources and economics. The group’s formation helped launch a national McGuireWoods initiative focused on the independent sponsor market, including its signature nationwide Independent Sponsor Conference.
In May 2020, D CEO and the Association for Corporate Growth-DFW named McLean a “Dealmaker of the Year” for leading more than 40 deals in 2019, ranging from senior and subordinate debt financings to full buyouts.
“David and his team have worked tirelessly to build relationships in the private equity space and to create new business opportunities for clients and prospective clients,” said Geoff Cockrell, leader of McGuireWoods’ private equity industry team. “We congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”
McLean was instrumental in creating McGuireWoods’ innovative deal sourcing infrastructure that leverages firm lawyers’ knowledge of industry-specific laws, regulations and trends to provide current and potential clients new deal opportunities. The novel deal sourcing process is a key factor in McGuireWoods league table ranking among the leading law firms for U.S. and global M&A deals, including private equity transactions.
