Steve Carrington, an associate in McGuireWoods’ M&A and Corporate Transactions Department in Chicago, will join Fresenius Kabi as corporate counsel on March 9, 2020. Fresenius Kabi, a global healthcare company that specializes in lifesaving medicine and technologies, has been a firm client since 2016.
Drawing on technology and transactional skills and experience he gained at McGuireWoods, Carrington will serve as in-house counsel at Fresenius Kabi, responsible for corporate and commercial support and advice for the company’s Transfusion and Cell Technologies Division. He will advise on purchase, research and development, IT and other commercial agreements; acquisition and joint venture activities; and general corporate and healthcare matters.
Carrington, who joined the firm in 2016, has worked with regulated industries, such as financial services and healthcare, handling technology and outsourcing transactions, healthcare IT, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity and venture capital deals.
“McGuireWoods is where I started my legal career and I can say with certainty that the people here made me who I am today — not only a quality attorney, but a better person,” Carrington said.
“While we will miss Steve’s hard work and dedication on behalf of our firm, we wish Steve the very best in his new endeavors,” said Charlotte partner Rakesh Gopalan, who worked closely with Carrington on technology and outsourcing matters.
