McGuireWoods represented Sauer Brands Inc., a portfolio company of firm client Falfurrias Capital Partners, in its acquisition of Chicago Custom Foods LLC (CCF), a leader in branded popcorn seasonings.
The firm also advised Falfurrias in its 2019 acquisition of Sauer Brands Inc., maker of flavor-enhancing condiments, seasonings and spices including Duke’s Mayonnaise and The Spice Hunter. The addition of CCF broadens Sauer Brands’ product lineup and continues Falfurrias’ “Industry First” packaged foods investment strategy.
Partner Christopher Nesbit led the McGuireWoods deal team, which included associates Sarah Martin and Matthew Cox. Senior counsel Staci Rosche led the financing for the deal. Partners Janet Peyton and Michael Wilson and senior counsel Paul Navarro also assisted on the transaction.
“We were pleased to assist Sauer Brands in closing this transaction and continue our relationship with Falfurrias Capital Partners,” Nesbit said.
McGuireWoods has served as legal adviser to Falfurrias since its 2006 founding. Falfurrias has since grown to become one of North Carolina’s largest private equity buyout firms, with significant experience in the food and premium catering industries. Over the past year, McGuireWoods counseled Falfurrias in closing five equity investments, four successful exits and three add-on acquisitions.
McGuireWoods consistently ranks among the top law firms in highly respected league tables for M&A and private equity deals. The firm earned top five rankings for U.S. deal count and top 10 rankings for global deals for the first quarter of 2020 in M&A league tables published by Refinitiv and Bloomberg.
