McGuireWoods Richmond associate Elizabeth Redpath has been named to the National LGBT Bar Association’s Best 40 LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40. The annual list recognizes legal professionals for career achievements and commitment to LGBTQ+ equality.
Redpath represents clients in labor and employment matters and counsels businesses on policies to prevent workplace discrimination. She has dedicated her career to advocating for equal rights and combating discrimination against the LGBTQ community.
Before joining McGuireWoods, Redpath was a U.S. Department of Justice trial lawyer and part of a group that advised Civil Rights Division leaders on legal and policy issues regarding discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex and HIV/AIDS status.
She is vice president of the Virginia Equality Bar Association and provides pro bono legal counsel at clinics for LGBTQ individuals making name and gender marker changes. Earlier this year, Redpath was named to the Business Equality Network’s Pride 40 LGBTQ Leaders Under 40 List.
“I am honored to be recognized by the National LGBT Bar Association and to have the support of my McGuireWoods colleagues, who have made diversity and inclusion a core value of our firm,” said Redpath.
“Elizabeth’s experience and insight helps businesses better understand that the more inclusive they are, the stronger they are,” said Sabrina Beldner, chair of the firm’s LGBTQ Lawyer Network. “It is no surprise to us at McGuireWoods that she is receiving more recognition for the work she does with her clients, along with her activism and community service.”
Redpath and her fellow honorees will be recognized at the 2020 Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair in Washington, D.C., later this year.
