McGuireWoods has formed a multidisciplinary team of lawyers and McGuireWoods Consulting policy professionals to assist clients with the expected influx of real estate, construction and infrastructure projects that may arise from legislation related to the American Jobs Plan.
The development and economic policy team includes lawyers from the firm’s infrastructure and real estate capital markets groups and McGuireWoods Consulting policy professionals who help clients capitalize on opportunities emerging from anticipated public investments in transportation, power grids, water supplies, broadband technology and other areas.
McGuireWoods advises clients throughout the United States on all legal aspects of construction, infrastructure and real estate development projects. The firm pioneered the use of public-private partnerships and other innovative financing techniques to achieve clients’ objectives. McGuireWoods Consulting is a recognized leader in navigating political challenges associated with major infrastructure projects, drawing on deep experience site selection, incentives negotiations, opportunity zones and public-private partnership (P3) deals.
“McGuireWoods is uniquely positioned to help clients navigate legal, regulatory and policy challenges as they pursue opportunities emerging from this historic infrastructure investment,” said partner Gregory Riegle, who co-leads the development and economic policy team along with partner Dennis Mensi and McGuireWoods Consulting senior vice president Christopher Lloyd.
Said Mensi: “The collective knowledge, experience and strategic insight of our lawyers and policy professionals will provide powerful advantages for our clients.”
Lloyd, director of McGuireWoods’ Consulting’s infrastructure and economic development team, added: “This initiative builds on our decades of leadership nationally in developing the policy framework for, and then in implementing, public-private partnerships to advance major infrastructure projects.”
McGuireWoods earned Tier 1 national rankings for real estate, land use and zoning, banking and finance, public finance and tax law in the 2021 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.”
