McGuireWoods was among an exclusive group of law firms that corporate counsel identified as a powerhouse for commercial and class action litigation in “BTI Litigation Outlook 2023: Litigation Spending in the Uncertain Economy and Beyond.” The firm earned recognition in nine litigation practice categories in the survey, which is based on unprompted feedback from legal decision makers at large companies with $1 billion or more in annual revenue.
The powerhouse ranking — BTI’s highest — is reserved for the top 1% of firms in each practice area. McGuireWoods earned the coveted ranking for complex and general commercial litigation, as well as class action litigation.
In addition, the firm was rated a “leader” for intellectual property, complex employment, general employment and product liability litigation; and a “standout” for cybersecurity and securities and finance litigation.
“The BTI report is another validation of the tremendous capabilities we bring to bear in complex and high-stakes litigation,” said Dion Hayes, McGuireWoods’ deputy managing partner for litigation. “We have augmented those capabilities with client service innovations that position us to respond to clients’ ever-changing needs in the years ahead.”
The BTI report projects significant increases in litigation caseloads and spending in the coming year, creating “a record level of opportunity for law firms.”
“Clients face more litigation than ever,” the report states. “The demand for litigation planning and strategy along with litigation is at record levels. Clever law firms will help clients with project management, budget planning, and priorities — and ease the burden on clients.”
BTI’s surveys of corporate counsel consistently rate McGuireWoods as a leading law firm. The firm has been recognized 16 times on BTI’s Client Service A-Team, the gold standard for measuring client service excellence.
