McGuireWoods partner Patrick Clyder received an award for “Outstanding Defense Verdict in a Product Liability Case” from Jury Verdict Reporter, a publication of Chicago-based Law Bulletin Media. The annual awards, which recognize trial lawyer excellence, were presented on Oct. 25, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Clyder and his co-honorees were recognized for their defense work on a nearly monthlong trial in Cook County, Illinois, involving a construction crane maker that prevailed in a $248 million lawsuit brought by the family of a civil engineer who was severely injured.
Clyder, who joined McGuireWoods’ Chicago office in March, counsels product manufacturers and distributors in personal injury and business disputes. He represents clients in state and federal courts across the United States, including the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois — one of the nation’s most challenging venues for defendants — and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
“I am honored to receive this award and proud of our team effort to achieve a favorable outcome for our client,” Clyder said.
“Patrick is a gifted attorney who is highly respected by his peers and his clients, and we congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition,” said Diane Flannery, chair of McGuireWoods’ Products, Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department.
