Lyle Kossis, an associate with McGuireWoods’ Business & Securities Litigation Department in Richmond, joined Truist on Dec. 5, 2022. His last day at McGuireWoods was Nov. 11.
In his new role as assistant general counsel, Kossis oversees consumer litigation involving the bank.
“My experience at McGuireWoods has been really positive,” Kossis said. “I worked with excellent lawyers who taught me a lot about case management and strategic thinking. I also worked with great mentors, like Ryan Frei, who gave me fantastic opportunities to learn and grow.”
Kossis, who joined McGuireWoods in 2015, represented Fortune 500 companies in litigation, at trial and on appeal in courts around the country and won significant victories for clients in high-stakes federal matters. In 2021 and 2022, he was recognized in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for appellate practice and commercial litigation.
He is the co-author of a Practical Law Q&A guide titled “Tortious Interference: Virginia.” The 20-point resource addresses elements of tortious interference claims, pleading requirements, potential remedies, defenses, and applicable standards of proof and causation.
“We are grateful for Lyle’s valuable contributions to McGuireWoods. We are excited for his new opportunity at Truist and wish him great success. While Lyle will be missed, his move from colleague to client is the best evidence of McGuireWoods as a national powerhouse,” said Jonathan Blank, chair of McGuireWoods’ Business & Securities Litigation Department.
