McGuireWoods partner Lisa Atty has been named one of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2022 Women of Influence: Attorneys. The special publication honors women lawyers for exceptional legal skills and achievements, exemplary leadership and contributions to the community.
Based in the firm’s Century City, California, office, Atty represents companies in the purchase and sale of real property and commercial leasing of office, retail, warehouse and industrial space. She has negotiated and finalized thousands of commercial leases and assisted clients in acquiring and disposing of billions of dollars’ worth of real property.
Her notable deals include representation of an international self-storage real estate investment trust in a $1.8 billion acquisition in 2021, which included 49 properties and increased the company’s footprint by 4.2 million square feet of rentable space in the mid-Atlantic region. She has also represented a Fortune 20 communications company in the negotiation and closing of hundreds of lease and license transactions with hotels, stadiums, and state and local governments in preparation for Super Bowl 50, resulting in a network buildout in multiple cities and counties in and around San Francisco to provide seamless coverage and capacity before and during the event.
Atty also has a significant pro bono practice and has been a leader for underrepresented groups in the legal community. She chairs McGuireWoods’ Los Angeles Women Lawyers Network. She also co-chairs the National Association of Women Lawyers Women in Real Estate Law affinity group and serves as a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity mentor to law students.
“It is an honor to be recognized along with accomplished women lawyers who make meaningful contributions to the law and our community,” Atty said. “I am grateful to my McGuireWoods colleagues and the clients I have been fortunate to work with throughout my career.”
“I am delighted to congratulate Lisa on this achievement,” said Richard Grant, managing partner of McGuireWoods’ Century City office. “This is a testament to her strong leadership, her dedication to clients and her commitment to expanding opportunities in our profession.”
