McGuireWoods maintained its position among an exclusive group of law firms that corporate counsel identified as a powerhouse for complex and general commercial litigation in “BTI Litigation Outlook 2024: Navigating Litigation Spending in the New Unpredictable World.”
The “powerhouse” ranking — the highest awarded by BTI Consulting Group — is reserved for the top 1% of firms in each practice area. This is the second year in a row McGuireWoods has earned the coveted ranking for complex and general commercial litigation.
The firm earned recognition in nine litigation practice categories in the survey, which is based on unprompted feedback from legal decision makers at large companies with $1 billion or more in annual revenue.
McGuireWoods was rated a “leader” for intellectual property and class action litigation; “distinguished” for complex employment, general employment and product liability litigation; and a “standout” for cybersecurity and securities and finance litigation.
Of the corporate clients BTI surveyed, 54% said they are planning “serious increases” in litigation spending in 2024, with budget growth exceeding caseload growth. Commercial litigation will remain the segment with the largest share of overall spending, according to the report.
“As the BTI report affirms, our clients recognize the depth and breadth of McGuireWoods’ national litigation capabilities and rate us among the very best in handling their most significant matters,” said Todd Steggerda, the firm’s deputy managing partner for litigation.
BTI’s surveys of corporate counsel consistently rate McGuireWoods as a leading law firm. The firm has been recognized 17 times on BTI’s Client Service A-Team, the gold standard for measuring client service excellence.
