McGuireWoods, one of the world’s pre-eminent banking and finance law firms, ranked among the top firms for advising lenders in debt finance transactions in 2022, according to league tables published by Refinitiv, Bloomberg and Debtwire.
McGuireWoods advised lenders on 180 global deals valued at $163.5 billion to rank fourth in deal count and sixth in proceeds in Refinitiv’s authoritative league tables. The firm ranked third in deal count and seventh in proceeds for representing lenders in U.S. syndicated loans, with 133 deals valued at $106.9 billion. In addition, the firm ranked ninth in deal count and 14th in proceeds for representing borrowers in U.S. syndicated loan deals.
For 12 consecutive years, McGuireWoods has ranked among the top 10 U.S. law firms for deal count and dollar value in lending league tables published by Refinitiv and its predecessor, the financial and risk business of Thomson Reuters. In 11 of those years, the firm finished among the top five in deal count.
McGuireWoods also posted strong results in Bloomberg’s Global Legal Advisers league tables, ranking second in deal count and eighth in dollar value for representing lenders in loans worldwide. For U.S. syndicated loans, the firm was second in deal count and fifth in proceeds, according to Bloomberg’s rankings.
McGuireWoods demonstrated its dominance of the middle market in Debtwire’s rankings. The firm placed No. 1 in deal count and proceeds for serving as lead bank counsel in middle market loans and also topped the charts for advising lead banks in middle market, private equity-backed loans.
“These rankings demonstrate our commitment to delivering the highest level of service to our clients, no matter the size or the nature of the financing transaction,” said Kevin McGinnis, chair of McGuireWoods’ Debt Finance Department.
McGuireWoods’ finance practice is one of the largest in the United States. The firm represents leading financial services institutions, including the top 10 U.S. banks ranked by assets. Law360 has twice named McGuireWoods a “Banking Practice Group of the Year” for excellence representing financial services institutions in litigation, transactional and regulatory matters.
