GlobeSt. Real Estate Forum, an American Lawyer Media publication, has selected McGuireWoods partners Greg Riegle, Chris Thanner and John Visconsi as 2023 Globe St. Influencers in Retail Real Estate. The honorees, all members of the firm’s Real Estate & Land Use Department, were profiled in a May 1, 2023, story.
“Influencers in Retail Real Estate” recognizes prominent professionals — from developers, investors and tenants to brokers, managers and lawyers — who made an impact on the commercial real estate business.
Riegle, managing partner of the firm’s Tysons, Virginia, office, advises clients on land use, zoning and redevelopment matters. GlobeSt. noted his work helping developers advance innovative retail concepts in mixed-use properties and helping clients respond to changing market conditions through repositioning underused and/or vacant office and retail spaces.
Thanner, a partner in Jacksonville, Florida, handles commercial real estate and finance law. Among the matters cited by GlobeSt., Thanner represented VyStar Credit Union in the acquisition of two downtown Jacksonville office buildings and a parking garage for retail and office use. Thanner also represented VyStar in negotiating naming rights to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in downtown Jacksonville.
Visconsi, a partner in Century City, California, represents national retailers in negotiating real estate transactions. GlobeSt. highlighted his handling of hundreds of leases, licenses and easements for telecommunications sites throughout the western United States; and serving as Bowlero Corp.’s primary legal counsel in negotiating leases for large-scale bowling, restaurant and entertainment venues.
McGuireWoods’ Real Estate & Land Use Department handles matters across the United States and abroad, and represents real estate investors, developers and financial institutions, Fortune 100 corporations, and other businesses. The firm earned a Tier 1 national ranking for land use and zoning law and real estate law in the 2023 U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” report.
“Throughout their careers, Greg, Chris and John have excelled at advancing clients’ innovative and transformational projects,” said Dennis Mensi, chair of McGuireWoods’ Real Estate & Land Use Department. “We congratulate them on this well-deserved national recognition.”
