McGuireWoods Charlotte partner Kayla McCann Marty was named to North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Healthcare Power List, which recognizes top lawyers who are leaders in their field and known for their experience and accomplishments.
Marty represents hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, outpatient facilities, physician practices, private equity funds and lenders in healthcare transactional and compliance matters. She handles corporate structuring, acquisitions, strategic joint ventures and various healthcare regulatory matters (corporate practice of medicine, licensing, fraud and abuse, and HIPAA issues). While attending William & Mary Law School, where she graduated first in her class, Marty received the Benjamin Rush Award for excellence in health law.
Marty, a Kentucky native, told North Carolina Lawyers Weekly she is passionate about rural access to healthcare and enjoys working with clients who share her interest.
“Many of my favorite clients are providers outside of metropolitan areas who provide care to those who do not have access to significant healthcare choices,” she said.
Marty said she also enjoys helping women’s health providers expand their businesses. Fertility services are in demand by U.S. families and access to care is increasing because of the hard work of groups such as those Marty represents, she said. She is amazed by the ways in which her clients change the lives of women and families, she added.
“Kayla’s commitment to excellence and dedication to clients inspire us, and we congratulate her on this honor,” said Holly Buckley, chair of McGuireWoods’ Healthcare Department.
McGuireWoods ranks among the top U.S. legal providers in healthcare and has one of the largest healthcare practices in the United States. The firm received nationwide recognition for healthcare law in the 2023 edition of the “Chambers USA” guide and earned a first-tier national ranking in healthcare law in the 2023 edition of U.S. News-Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms.”
