McGuireWoods selected associate Jonathan Tan as its representative member for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 2024 Fellows Program and associates PJ Harris and Jenny Yi as representative members of the LCLD’s 2024 Pathfinders Program.
The LCLD Fellows Program, launched in 2011, helps diverse, high-potential, midcareer attorneys excel in leadership roles and build stronger client relationships. The LCLD Pathfinders Program furthers the professional development of lawyers early in their careers.
Tan, practicing with the firm’s Environmental & Mass Tort Litigation Department in Richmond, Virginia, represents clients in product liability and consumer class actions, as well as commercial litigation matters and cases involving catastrophic injuries. He serves as national coordinating counsel for product manufacturers in high-exposure product liability matters across the country. Before joining McGuireWoods, Tan clerked for U.S. District Judge Mark S. Davis of the Eastern District of Virginia. Among Tan’s accolades, he was selected for the 2023-2024 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Leadership Advancement Program and was included in Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch for product liability litigation in 2023 and 2024.
Harris, based in Charlottesville, Virginia, practices with the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Energy Transactional Department. He represents companies in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, platform and add-on acquisitions, leveraged buyouts and other strategic transactions. He also counsels clients on corporate governance and fund formation. Before joining McGuireWoods, Harris was the co-founder and operator of a software-as-a-service platform and a strategic deals adviser for a “Big Four” professional services firm. In 2023, he was recognized by The National Black Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 lawyer.
Yi, a member of the firm’s Financial Services & Securities Enforcement Department in San Francisco, litigates high-risk consumer class actions, Ponzi schemes, civil conspiracies, contract, tort, statutory and related business claims. She also has been on the front lines of the evolving mass arbitration landscape, including defending several entities against mass arbitration attacks. Before joining McGuireWoods, Yi was a legal extern for U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank of the District of Minnesota. She co-chairs NAPABA’s Financial Services Network.
Atlanta partner Ken Neighbors, chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, said, “The selection of Jon, PJ and Jenny as the firm’s LCLD representatives reflects on their individual talents and McGuireWoods’ longtime commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion and investing in the growth of diverse professionals to strengthen our legal community.”
The LCLD is a national organization of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners dedicated to creating a more open and diverse legal profession. McGuireWoods has been a member and participant in the LCLD since the organization was founded in 2009. In 2023, the LCLD honored McGuireWoods with a Top Performers and Compass Award. The firm was one of only 75 LCLD member organizations to earn both honors.
